This is my response to said "poetry packets"

So this term i have taken all classes that i thought would be fun. And initially when i went into the creative writing class i was disappointed that we would be focusing on poetry for the first couple weeks of class. See when i was a young adolescent girl i would write "my heart is dying" poetry, and well after i spent sometime in the real world paying bills and working i kind of lost that emotional intensity that i had when i was younger. i have a biased view towards poetry and often feel that there are a lot of people out there that splash random words on a sheet of paper and call it poetry. Then there are this group of people pretending to be intellectuals who talk about how deep and meaningful the poem is, and then i read it and think that the writer must have been on some kind of drugs because to be it just looks like they started writing down words on paper and called it a master piece and everyone believed them. Now i know that sounds so negative, but i have to say that i have enjoyed many of the poems that i have read for the class. I just hate that there are some poems that are so open ended and vague that it seems like the writing wasn't though out at all. Why write something that anyone could write. I could totally be wrong on this because i know that some works may seem random when they stand alone, and then make more sense when sitting with a complete works. I can't lie, i have a great feeling that this class will help to to appreciate poems and maybe renew my liking. I do enjoy imagery and certain phrases and words that are obscure and poetry has always been great for that. So I'm trying to put my initial opinions on the back burner and open my mind, you never know i may end up loving it.
